You will receive an email with your tracking information as soon as your order has been shipped. You will be provided with an estimated time of arrival and you will be able to use this information to track your package(s) online, or on the phone with the carrier.

Canada shipments Go to top
All products are shipped from the US. All prices shown are shown in US dollars. The service of a broker is required and is typically arranged by our Canadian customers with their existing brokers. If you are not familiar with this process, for a nominal charge we are able to include the brokerage fees in your order. Weight, destination and freight class are some of the factors in determining these charges. If you would like to arrange brokerage fees through BuyMetalShelving.com please contact Josh at 1-800-952-0151 ext 376 for more information. Please have your nine digit Canadian GST (Goods & Services Tax Id) number available.

Freight Pricing Go to top
Freight pricing is an additional shipping charge that will be added to the total of your order before tax. Your shipping price is based on total weight and dimensions of your purchase as well as your zip code. With over 24 distribution centers, we are able to choose a shipping location closest to you and guarantee that the freight charges are as minimal as possible. Our freight charges are updated with the fluctuating fuel prices, because of this all of our quoted pricing is estimated as accurately as possible though subject to change with out notice. Our pricing quotes generally include business shipping for less than truckloads (LTL) shipments via a motor freight carrier to a commercial location. See Special Handling Services if you require additional shipping services.

Freight on Board (FOB) Go to top
BuyMetalShelving.com commonly uses Freight on Board (FOB) shipping. The FOB points we have listed indicated the location your product will ship from. This location may change to get the best possible freight rates. FOB origin is often our customers preferred FOB term. This route is used by companies who have existing contracts with a freight carrier, and who choose to use this company to deliver their order. When using FOB origin, as soon as your product is loaded on the truck, you have title to the product and are therefore you as the buyer are responsible for any shipping charges and freight claims. We are not liable for items damaged or lost in transit when FOB origin terms are used for freight.

Small Parcel Shipping Go to top
Items that do not require freight shipping are shipped via UPS. Small Parcel shipments must weigh less than 150 pounds and measure less than 108” in length and less than 165” in length and girth combined. You will receive a tracking number via email as soon as your order is picked up by UPS and are able to track your package through the UPS website. Unless indicated, UPS does not require a signature for delivery.

Business/Commercial Shipping Go to topMost freight companies will not call you to make a delivery appointment unless you have specifically requested this service. To make your delivery as easy and as smooth as possible please follow the guidelines below:
Unless you have contracted for an inside delivery or lift gate, the truck driver is only responsible for moving your merchandise to the tailgate of their truck. They are not responsible for unloading your merchandise. Many drivers will gladly help you unload your freight, and some may even help you get the items inside, but they are not obligated to. There generally is an extra charge for a lift gate and inside delivery. You may be able to contract services at the time of delivery; however these extra services will be billed to you.
DO NOT SIGN THE DELIVERY RECEIPT UNTIL YOU:

1. Count the number of cartons and verify that you have received the correct number, which is on the delivery receipt.

2. Inspect the cartons and pallets carefully for any kind of rips, tears, punctures, dents crushed corners, wetness or any other signs of possible damage. Although the damage appears to be minimal on the box, the inner contents of the package could be severely damaged. Creases, dents, tears, and punctures are all considered damage and should always be noted on the delivery receipt. If you even sense that there is any kind of freight damage, OPEN THE CARTONS WHILE THE DRIVER IS PRESENT AND INSPECT THE GOODS.

3. If you see that the merchandise is in good condition then sign the delivery receipt.

4. If you feel that there is any kind of freight damage or you are unable to open the cartons, but see that the cartons are not in perfect condition, then note all visible details on the delivery receipt and mark it 'Subject to Inspection' before signing it. We can not hold the trucking company responsible for damage unless you note all damage, or the problems with the outer carton on the delivery receipt.

5. Carrier responsibility is lost without the proper signing for goods.

Damaged Merchandise:

1. If your merchandise is damaged, you must KEEP THE OUTER CARTON(S) FOR INSPECTION

2. If a shipment is in very poor condition, you have the option of refusing the entire shipment. If you refuse items, mark the delivery receipt, "Refused Due To Damage".

3. If you refuse any item that is not damaged, you will be subject to extra freight charges on that item.

4. If you receive any damaged merchandise or are unsure whether to accept a damaged shipment please call us immediately Toll Free 1-000-000-0000. Claims of damage must be made within 7 days of customer receipt.

Concealed damage is not to be taken lightly. Any damage that is found after the driver has left and was not noted on the delivery receipt is concealed damage. Replacement costs may apply to orders with concealed damage. It is your responsibility to inspect the entire shipment before the driver leaves. Failure to do so releases BuyMetalShelving.com and the trucking company from all liability.

Accessorial Shipping Charges Go to top

Any additional services required outside of the standard shipping procedure may require additional fees; the most frequently requested special handling services are described below.

Residential or School Delivery Go to top
If the ship to address is not a commercial location or is not on a commercial truck route you must select Residential or School Delivery. This includes deliveries to schools, residential locations and home based businesses. The method is just like Business Shipping, except that for school and residential deliveries, you will be contacted by the shipping carrier to schedule a delivery appointment. Most companies offer appointment windows (usually 2-4 hours) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday. As with business shipping, your products may arrive on a pallet, banded and wrapped in plastic. It is your responsibility to unload your purchased products, along with any packaging, from back of the truck. The freight company’s driver is under no obligation to assist you with unloading. Please contact our customer service department at (877) 952-0151 with any questions you have.

Liftgate Service Go to top
Upon arrival of your shipment, the delivering carrier is responsible for moving the freight to the end of the truck for drop-off. Because residences do not have docks for unloading, moving the freight from the bed of the truck to the ground can be an issue. If the freight is lightweight enough, or if the driver is assisted, some freight can be eased off the truck. If no help is available or if the freight is too heavy, a liftgate truck will be necessary. Liftgate trucks are not quoted in shipping and will need to be arranged with the freight carrier.

Inside Delivery Go to top
By selecting Inside Delivery with your freight carrier, this guarantees the delivery of your order from the truck to the interior of the first available door (as determined by the delivery driver) The driver will not be responsible for moving your order up stairs or into a specific room.

Notify Before Delivery Go to top
If you need to schedule an appointment for delivery we can have the freight carrier contact you 24-hours in advance for a nominal fee.

Construction Site Delivery Go to top
Shall be defined as the site of any construction of buildings, roads, bridges or other sites of construction; including the entire property upon which the construction is taking place, as well as delivery to any facility located on the property (warehouses, depots, supply houses, etc.). The charge assessed for this service includes initial notification to arrange an agreed delivery time.

Limited Access Delivery Go to top
If the ship to address is a commercial location but is not a commercially zoned area or is an area that commercial trucks do not normally deliver to, you must select limited access delivery. This generally includes deliveries to military bases and government facilities, tradeshows, and residential or commercial areas where narrow or excessively crowded streets prevent semi truck access and egress.

International Shipping Go to top
If you are ordering from Canada, Mexico, or other locations outside the United States, there will be additional shipping fees not reflected during the checkout process. If you do not have a freight broker, we can make arrangements and include the required broker fees for you. Freight cost is determined by weight, destination and class. You can also call our customer service department at (877) 952-0151.

Please note: we cannot ship to a post office box.
